An Function within Flash CS3 allow you to create a set of instructions and only have to write them one single time. Eveytime you want to use the instructions you simply call the function that has been created. In this short tutorial, author Bill Dallas Lewis presents the concept of Functions within ActionScript 3 and Flash CS3 as well as how to properly call them from within your presentation. This tutorial is taken from a full length training DVD presented by My Digital Works entitled Adobe Flash CS3 - ActionScript 3. The full course is available from http://www.mydigitalworks.com as well as from Amazon.com

  • i love you so much right now, nobody has explained functions like this before and i didn't even realize that stop(); and play(); were functions, although now it seems kind of obvious, anyway, great tutorial. keep it up :D

  • Hi, very good tutorials, Help me please, How can I dinamically hide objects in a scene.

  • Hi, does this mean you can use activate functions globally? I can make a button and make it so that if it's clicked it will activate a function right? What if you have a function set up and you activate it on a movieclip? Will it apply to the movieclip or do I have to set the instance name?
