Few points:
1. You do NOT measure contamination in uR/h
2. Stuffing radiation sources under oranges an measuring contamination is like showing off a new camera lens advertised with extreme low light capability by shooting in bright sun;
3. Even if you are able to detect radiation on the outside of food, you are supposed to peel them and wash them, so this irrelevant; what you it inside is the relevant, you cannot measure that with GM counter.

You seem to stress the words "contamination on" . What if say the flesh of fish were contaminated with a dangerous level of cesium, would it be the same result?

Correct, contamination is measured in CPM CPS DPM DPS and Bq/CM2.
This is a quick product demo put together very shorlty after the events in fukushima.
Contamination would genereally be found ON a surface, this is why they are called surface contamination monitors.

The Inspector is not water tight, however the RDS-80A is.
