  • Whoa. The picture quality of this particular video is almost perfect without &fmt=18. And if you put &fmt=18 in the end the quality actually gets worse. What did you do different? (Or is it just me)

  • Huh? There is hardly any difference between normal and high quality yeah. I did nothing different from my normal process, i have no idea whats changed.

  • excellent video, in the mechanics video will you be covering vertical axle's? it's the only part my experimenting doesn't solve.

  • Yeah probably. Allthough the problem is that you are probably forgetting to channel the tile so the floor is removed and the axle can interact with the thing on the floor below

  • Yeah, when I'm trying something new, my inner ponderings sound like CaptnDuck's voice.

  • Real problem start when you try to make that "U-tube well mistake" not with a lake but with a river. xD

Then your whole fortress turns into a well engraved pond.

  • Isn't neither water system realistic because even though in most games, the pressure seems to have no effect on water, which is unrealistic, in Dwarf Fortress it seems to act as if there is no air. If the air has nowhere to go, the water cannot take up that area, correct? (The same principle as putting a bucket on your head and jumping in a lake) If I'm wrong, please correct me.

  • @DutchManticore get the dwarf fortress Phoebus mod it adds all new graphics to the game. just google it and something should pop up and its easy to install just download and play.

  • @Melenkurio

Ha it's hard to get across what I'm trying to say.

    Ehm..

I'm not saying my problem is with the quality of the graphics, it's just that the quantity of the graphics isn't sufficient to me PERSONALLY.

  • @DutchManticore Well i think i couldnt play with the ACII graphics either but now with the tile packs its enjoyable for me. Just like spacestation 13 this game doesnt need good graphics

  • @Melenkurio

    I realize that.

    It has advanced physics etcetera.

I was merely stating that graphics do not make or break a game for me but that the amount of graphics that's in Dwarf Fortress is just too little to make DF appealing to me.

  • @DutchManticore The game is so complex that it wouldnt run on any computer with minecraft graphcis.

  • Wow this is such a deep game but I just can't get into it :P

I need a little more graphics. Like Minecraft as a bare minimum.

I do enjoy watching your videos though CptnDuck

  • How do you dam rivers? I had a bit of trouble with my moat =P

  • LOL that was awsome and random...love it dude..."Look at my beautiful painting" ahaha dude thats freakin awsome.

  • when you pull down that lovely little Mspaint page i was as surprise as when i saw the ending of "the mist", you are so sweet capt!
