This is a response to TheCameraEye11's response. Faulty research is constantly used to paint a picture of minority disadvantage. But when you factor for more than the difference between minorities and white males (ie skin color and gender) you find that these disparages do not exist.
A college-educated person who works hard and doesn't engage in criminal behavior will succeed at rates comparable to any white male, many of which are college educated, law abiding citizens. It's not white privilege. It's white attitude.

@kkilo34 Thanks for the clarification. I really do see it as like a self-fullfilling prophecy by force of concentrating on that reality. For me, there is no rigged game, it's not a reality, it's a fear that you can elect for it to become a reality. Whatever we fear most is what will get us ultimately, and our sensitivity to whatever that is is always on alert. People just have to chose not to turn on that alarm.

@paulism1984 I meant your comment. It's nice to hear black people divorcing themselves from the self-defeating attitudes of futility and hopelessness. Those people can be the influence needed to close the racial disparities by getting black people to see that the opportunities really are out there for those willing to do what it takes to succeed.

@kkilo34 woops I had responded to you with my satirical message when I had intended it for your critic here, the anonymouselektron. Now that I see who is who, which comment did you mean you like to get? The one from a minority person telling other minorities that there's no rigged game and that victim mentalities are what minorities need to fear most? Yes, in any case it is a tired line indeed. I know more lazy people than "oppressed" people, that's pretty clear.

@paulism1984 Yeah, that's the jist of what I hear. And it's a tired line that people are starting to realize simply isn't true. You look at rates of economic upward mobility for immigrants and they're significantly higher than citizens. The real kicker is that African immigrants are some of the highest performing, despite facing enormous challenges over that of black citizens. Clearly, if discrimination was what prevented success for minorities, immigrants would be the lowest performing.

@kkilo34 OK fine, I'm a minority and it's so hard and I hate white people and it's all their fault. No matter how hard I try (not so hard), I can't win, everyone is against me. there, does that sound more like what you are used to hearing? me too.

@paulism1984 I love it when I get comments like this.

@AnonymousElektron I'm colored too and I'm not privileged. I come from a long line for either jungle dwellers or farmers. They came to this country and focused less about their minority status and have done well. I'm not worried so much about the color aspect of this post, more so about this wage myth gap between the genders. I don't know about any rigged games, but I know a lot about victim mentalities. I never played that game.

@AnonymousElektron I have never received any money from slave labor in my life. I worked for my degrees as did everyone else. Difference is, we don't have scholarships for my race. But we still succeed, despite that fact. Whites drop out less than blacks, commit fewer crimes, have fewer children we can't afford, and go to college more often. So, we end up more successful as a result of our personal choices. Many blacks do too. Just, more often than whites, they don't. No privilege. Just success.

@kkilo34 u work on the backs of slaves.
u rig the system in ur favor, and help each other out, and give each other degrees and certs to get better jobs.

@AnonymousElektron "DO NOT APPRECIATE U TRYIN TO SAY THAT WHITE PRIVILAGE DONT EXIST." In other words, you think you have some racial and gender privilege not to have your opinions question. White privilege does not exist, and I would like to know who the FUCK you think you are that you can go around claiming that our success is not the result of hard work and smart decisions? Fact is, you're a bigot. And we have every right to criticize your bigotry. You might want to get used to it.
