for me this is the best movie ever made,and I wish that you will like it too. This is the part seven,and if you don't know what this movie is about here are some informations about it:
so,this is a story about three diferent woman in three diferent times: Virginia Woolf (Nicole Kidman) in 1920s England, who is struggling with depression and mental illness whilst trying to write her novel; Clarissa Vaughan (Meryl Streep), a New Yorker preparing an award party for her AIDS-stricken long-time friend and poet, Richard (Ed Harris) in 2001 ; Laura Brown (Julianne Moore), a pregnant 1950s California housewife with a young boy and an unhappy marriage.
There lifes and stories are connecting thru time and space.

@shung24 virginia, because of her deprssion, has been treated by docs that said seclusion/isolation is the cure, when today we know it is not (read The Yelow Walpaper by charlotte gilman). she feel disconnected, and that kiss was her trying to connect and reach out to something-anything.

You can look at the kiss in another way. Virginia and Clarissa both had visitors from their past that reminded them of something they had long ago. It's a desire to keep and hold onto something you can't have. (or never had) Even Laura's earlier visit from Kitty fits the motif.
