I told Mrs. Banning she was on youtube and everyone in the class was looking at me.She was my teacher last year 2010, Today is September 7 and today is the first day of school.

@jubilantJOSEFINE It is all about the money. Did you see teachers striking when student programs were cut? Did you see teachers striking when class sizes were increased? Did you see teachers organizing when, for several years, parents dug deep for millions of dollars to cover budget deficit & retain teachers. I didn't.

@drjj10 Last year the median CUSD teacher salary was $90K/yr + benefits and an 80% pension - that's $72K/yr at retirement. They work 9 months a year - underpaid? The 2 million Californians out of work at the time of the strike would like to have know that their unemployment was "temporary". Perhaps the union has the power to determine the exact date the economy will recover so people can get back to work to pay taxes to pay teacher's salaries. Most willing to take a pay cut - NOT
