@timhulio new screws and one guitar cost less than buying a different guitar for each pickguard available.

did you actually try this? when was the last time you changed out the pickups of a guitar. Desoldering, soldering, wiring schematics, and the amount of time spent to actually get the thing to work and your crying about having to solder ONE wire? wah wah wah.

This is ill-conceived. Change pickups on a semi-regular basis and you'll strip-out the pickguard screws in no time at all. Especially using an electric screwdriver. Then we're back to matchstick dowels and gunky woodglue.
