What about sexual violence among gays and lesbians?
What about sexual violence perpetrated by women against men?

hahaha Agreed. I too very much doubt TBTN is trying to reach out to the rapists. Rather, it seems more effective to make the issue known to the general public.
For example, the notion that women are (to any measurable degree) sexually assaulted on public streets even at night seemed absurd to me. Throughout my college years I met several such women.
Thus, I have since made it a priority to walk home with my female pals after a party, for example. Awareness worked.

I don't understand this whole campaign? If rapist is having sex with someone he's not going to pause and think to himself "oh, yeah, that rape rally doesn't like rape, I think I'll stop"

Perhaps the choice of terminology is meant to counter the all too common self critique of "I'm a victim, so I am weak." This perspective, I assert, does little to boost the much needed confidence of the individual.
Thus, the term "survivor" is preferable as it directly implies that the individual has the strength to persevere.
Semantics may seem silly, yet one cannot entirely separate the mind from any type of recovery process.

Why do they keep referring to themselves as survivors? In reality they're victims.
