On May 22, 2009, President Obama signed into law the Weapon System Acquisition Reform Act, legislaton which was crafted by Republicans and Democrats on the House Armed Services Committee. The bill aims to reform the system used by the Pentagon to acquire major weapons systems. Ranking Member John M. McHugh (R-NY) and Rep. Mike Conaway (R-TX), who were both instrumental in crafting the legislation, attended the White House ceremony.
