July 3, 2010, Vinalhaven, ME Millrace Duck Race. This is heat #4 I think in the 5-heat race. The top-3 winners from this heat were combined with the top 3 finishers from the other heats in the final race.
Every year the Duck Race is held during rising tide as water flows from Carver's Harbor to Carver's Pond through the Mill Race, an area where water flows between the harbor and pond, changing directions four times daily as the tide rises and falls. Numbered rubber duckies are dumped from the Millrace bridge and spectators cheer their ducks to victory!
