This year Alderman Joe Moore is inviting the residents of the 49th Ward to decide how to spend his $1.3 million capital budget for 2010. VOTE April 10th, from 9 am - 3 pm, at the Chicago Math and Science Academy, 7212 N. Clark St.!
This is the first time in the United States, that this direct budget participation by voters has been done. All projects have been suggested and created by people of the 49th ward, and ultimately will be voted on by residents of the 49th ward.

  • I am running for city council, and this is what i envisioned. i am learning from Chicago's example, keep it up!

  • Excellent process. Thank you for this. I am working towards developing this in my home city in Toronto Ward 29 and I can see it would happen probably much in this same fashion. Please post some of the feedback and results.
