This was recorded from behind the Vehicle Assembly Building, a spot closed to the general public but about the same distance as the press site.

STS-135 is the final mission of NASA's 30+ year Space Shuttle Program. The Atlantis orbiter lifted off at 11:29:04am EST, a few minutes after its scheduled time due to some minor last minute issues.

From http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/shuttlemissions/sts135/

"Space shuttle Atlantis is carrying the Raffaello multipurpose logistics module to deliver supplies, logistics and spare parts to the International Space Station. The mission also is flying a system to investigate the potential for robotically refueling existing spacecraft and returning a failed ammonia pump module to help NASA better understand the failure mechanism and improve pump designs for future systems."
