Idleford Town is a new 'O' gauge model railway currently being built by a small group of members of The Bassetlaw (North Notts) Railway Society based in Retford, Nottinghamshire. The layout is over 33ft long and is loosely based on Great Central (London Extension) practice. The video was taken at the Retford Model Railway Exhibition in November 2010 when the layout made its first public appearance. For further details of the layout, please visit the club website, www.bnnrs.net/idleford.html

  • i 2nd that but one question what loco is that at 1:24

  • It is a model of the Fell Diesel Mechanical locomotive built at Derby in 1950. The locomotive was powered by four Paxman 12-cylinder engines arranged in pairs beneath each bonnet, which gave a locomotive power of 2,000hp. No 10100 had a novel mechanical transmission consisting of a differential drive and fluid couplings connected through one central gearbox to its four driving axles.

  • Some very good detail

  • very clever space saving storage movements, nice model too if you have the space, mine is same scale but in a 11.5 x 8.5 room. The movie I attached is an update showing details and movements of the (almost) complete layout.

  • it depicts the Great Central very well

  • Good layout, some interesting models and a nice bit of filming, Richard - 5*
