A short video by McCurdy Electric about Knob and Tube wiring, showing some of its characteristics. It is called "Knob and Tube" because the wire you see here in the video is supported every few feet by porcelain "knobs" and passes through holes made in wood framing members via porcelain "tubes" to help insulate the conductors. Used back as far as the 1880s, it should be replaced whenever possible. Please see my blog post on this at www.McCurdyElectric.com/Advisor
