The HISTORY NEWS NETWORK (http://hnn.us) recorded this appearance of Philip Zelikow at the annual meeting of the American Historical Association in Washington DC on January 5, 2008.
This guy's got a lot of balls to appear in public after his obvious 9-11 coverup leadership. It shows how these pointy-headed criminals are different than us. They lack a conscience.
His overall point is that history is shaped by cataclysmic events, not general shifts. What he is saying with the helicopter/U2 analogy is that historians don't look closely at historical events. 9/11 was one such cataclysmic event. Historians are not looking closely at it. If they did, they would see plain as day that the 9/11 report that Zelikow wrote is absurd. Does Zelikow believe history can be (genetically) engineered? (i.e., not left to randomness).
not a fan of Zelikow but want to know if you have this speech in writing. He's far from the microphone and many parts of this speech unfortunately is inaudible. Contingency or whatever historian perceive it may still be a perception. Thanks hnneditor for posting this.
Did check the site but couldn't find this speech.will greatly appreciate if you let me know or can. Cheers!
