Vocals are credited to Ida Sue McCune and the orchestral arrangement, Billy May. The one Bernadette Peters lip-synced to and probably my favorite from the soundtrack. This was a sealed 2-LP set I won on eBay for maybe $2.00. It has been out of print since it's original release.

  • to burrexkeefers Drab original ? im not sure if this is some sort of joke but i dont think it is !!! the thirties version was lean............. oh whats the use !!! go listen to your gilbert and sullivan quadruple albums !!!!!!!

  • @birdandthe Sounds like you're flabbergasted over an opinion. Some songs I like, some I don't. It's really ok. Calm down.

  • This is so obviously recorded for the 1981 film version! For crying out loud the arrangement is a early 80's hollywoodised overembellished version of the 30's version used in the 1978 tv miniseries. So this is very likely Ida Sue McClune, as it says on the box.

  • You say that like that's a bad thing when it's a very well-crafted song and so much better than the drab original. I'm still not convinced about when it was made because a lot of other original songs from the American version of the movie had the same type of embellishments as this one. Let's Misbehave and Pennies from Heaven were both extended by a few minutes with new music.

  • wow that's incredible, for a 1981 soundtrack album to get the info wrong.

i wondered if they scrapped the footage of Bernadette taking her try at the song. that would've been an interesting listen, as her pouting little girl voice is nothing like this.

Probably only the film Producer and Music Director know what you're asking. Ya never know. If it was a Public Domain thing they probably didn't care who they credited if a quick research was botched. No "Google" back then, lol.

  • I'm pretty sure the credits are right on the cover. Maybe it's best to leave it open to debate because there is the tiny debate on other videos and people take online resources as fact. Does sound a little like other recordings on youtube by Phyllis Robins, but I'm not so sure.
