How does it feel when you hit the gas with all that torque? I never drove a diesel turbo car before.

when max safe boost is reached to get more bhp u overfuel.
Diesels run in an excess air state, to use this excess u overfuel for deeper injection penetration.
When u do u run out of O2 so for every HC molocule oxidised a single carbon atom is released - smoke.
U can get 160bhp from tdi without smoke easily though.

my dads just about bto buy the 170bhp 2.0 tdi.

MY dads has 170bhp standard and no smoke.
The 130pd engines have bigger injectors, these can limit power.
This looks like u have only increased fuelling and boost?
Injection timing makes a big difference and is often the difference between value and rip off.
U should be able to get more power for that amount of smoke.

just wait for hte twin cam tdi

much props on the numbers, cant wait to get my TDi golf and start tweaking, although i have to point out, im a speed junky and a tree hugging hippy. and black smoke isnt power, its wasted fuel, gale banks has proven that a properly designed engine setup and tune will produce the power without the smoke. Im all about smokeless power, but i still think this car is badass. 1.9L and 320ft/lbs is impressive no matter how you cut it.
