Aim: To create a stimulus video clip illustrating numeracy in the community with 2-3 class discussion questions.

We made a video to show that fractions aren't just to be learnt in the classroom, they are essential in real life too!

Discussion questions:
1. Provide some other examples where fractions can be useful outside the classroom.

2. Can the pizza be shared between 3 people? What about 5, 6, 7, 8 people?

3. What occupations use fractions reguarly? (Schlessinger Media, 2004)

Suggested extension questions:
1. Ask students to write or draw the fractions represented in the video.

2. How many pizzas would we need to feed our whole class? (8 slices per pizza)

  • Great video ladies! The idea of using a pizza to teach fractions is a fantastic idea - it definitely kept me interested... and hungry.

    Thanks
