i want to lash out at you, but what you are saying doesn't even make sense.
first off... what does freestyle bmx have to do with this?
secondly, the whole reemergence of fixed gears in an urban setting was spawned by NY messengers. Caribbean immigrant messengers used them because they were used to them, they are better in weather, cheaper (at the time), less likely to be stolen (at the time), easy to maintain, fun and because of the lack of geography in NYC.

@noizekid really? If you're going to make comments about fixed gear bikes then maybe you should familiarize yourself with their history. Freestyle BMX riding started in the 70's, and while "bike messengers" might have been using single speed bikes for quite a while, they didn't start riding fixed gear bikes until they recently became a popular "fashion accessory"
