Super Metroid Dependence playthrough Part I

A play through of a hack of Super Metroid called "Dependence" (made by Black Telomeres aka Bloody Excerment) that I have decided to record myself playing. It is one of my favorite hacks and I've cleared v1.84 a long time ago. the version being shown here is version 2.0. Enjoy. For those who have not played it and are interested (although I shouldn't need to tell you), there may be spoilers revealed.

I can never play any of these hacks.

1) the rom I have isn't compatible with that .ips

2) that hack isn't compatible with my English Super Metroid.smc

Dunno whats wrong, but it seems like it works for you... Keep up the work, I love metroid games. Fun and classic.

XRay, it's been stated time and time again on different forums and even here on youtube.

1) You need the (JU)! rom version of Super Metroid. You need to find this on your own.

2) Afterwards, you need to download the patch to the hacks and patch the JU rom version of Super Metroid (using something like Fusoya's IPS Patch Tool).

After all of that, you're good to go.

I got all of those that you mentioned... I have Super Metroid (JU).smc and IPS Patch tool. Maybe its the Emulator? Because I'm using ZSNES 1.52, I heard that some emulators will not play some games.. Well thanks for helping.

Try using Snes9x 1.43v9 or Snes9x 1.51, though I see no reason why it won't work in ZSNES. I've played hacks like Redesign and Dependence in ZSNES.

So what exactly is the theme to this hack? Does it boast increased difficulty? An original storyline that didn't exist in the real game? Or is it just new area maps?

This game is insane with how much damage those spikes do...I can't believe how difficult it is compared to the original. Nice job.

Sorry to break it to you, LS2. ROM hacks work fine on 1.51, and XRay is still having trouble on 1.42.

if u want to use an zsnes make sure its a versin below 1.51 for some reason the new versions disallow hacked roms to play i made two jp SM versions and used both to find out which one works

a non-headered rom (Clean rom) mine is 3,072KB.

What's the KB size? It may be your header. If it is 3,073, then you need to unheader it. I did it by using SMILE to take off the header.
