  • Brings back memorys of some good close racing

  • It is probably the closest rod race I've ever seen....and was won by my Dad....though how he wasn't docked for spinning (sorry he called it helping) Dave Key (15) out lol

  • Chris....you know where I got this from! lol Thanks to Chris' Dad Clive who used to film all the racing at Buxton's High Edge raceway. Chris kindly sent me this footage some time ago of my Dad racing. I too still have the program from this meeting from when I was 10 years old! This video has been embedded in my website cpmotorsport co uk

    Thanks Chris

  • i have a vhs tape from the early 80s that sum guy from buxton had done of my brother in hotrod 137 i will have to get in put on my laptop and get it on here

  • used to watch old jags banger racing here in 70's that was one cold track when the weather was bad crewe was maybe better market drayton was amazin the track was formed in a field with sticks in the ground and rope or string hung between them remember martin mcginley gettin knocked off track drivin thru some apple trees ? and drivin back on track new brighton come on the invaders

  • Ian Pye's my Grandad.

He's got his trophys up on shelves in his study.

  • amazing video, a non contact rod driver can learn a lot from that, wish there was that many rods at buxton these days

  • What a Mint video!! From back in the day when it was proper racing!!

The flag man you can see is my Dad, David Smith and the man giving the trophy and flag out at the end is my Grandad, George Mycock, the founder of the track!

    Brill video!

  • Top video! I was a regular visitor in the 80s (a friend raced Bombers there) but don't remember much about the track as it was. It's very different to the current Fig 8 layout and high safety fence. I do the track photography there now (buxtonracepix) and a few bits of video - links on the website.

Don't know if it's the camera angle but those Escorts look mighty quick; maybe the shortening of the corner has made a big difference.

A real treat to see this video - nice one!

  • Nice Video!! where you get this from, lol

(Midlands) National Hot Rods at it's best from Hi-Edge Raceway, Buxton (still got the program from this meeting!) The track has since been made shorter at the bottom corner...these are the days when I used to find dis-used WWII grenades lieing around in the surrounding fields!!

Great times of Hot Rods, Saloon stock cars and "Bombers" (Buxton Bangers)
