According to the Internet, this is a folk processing of a poem, "True to the Gray," set to the tune Bonny Blue Flag. More or less. My uke rendition is wholly inspired and entirely indebted to the lovely version that Tim Eriksen does.
I have to admit to not being exactly sure what I did here, as I haven't touched the uke lately. Best as I can tell, though, I am tuned open (G C G G or maybe G C G C, but something with open fifths), and I played the main melody notes, which gives a kind of modal sound, but with a hint of harmonic movement. The first series of notes is C-F-G-A. Also, the words begin on the four chord (if you were trying to strum chords). Hope that helps!
Thanks!
