The actual source video looks a lot better than this right? This looks like shit... I'm asking because i'm thinking of either getting this or a Sony equivalent.

I was wondering about focus/depth of field. I read people saying you need to get a special lens but it looks like you can focus on nearby or far-off objects with opposites going blurry which is cool. A friend wants me to go HD and ditch the idea of getting a DVX100b, but man this looks so good. What HD camera offers 24p and looks this good for under $3,000?
