My senior project was on the dangers of fluoride and I was not popular with my teachers and classmates afterwards for holding a different view of fluoride.

You are right! Fluoride is a poison in high quantities just like every other substance on the planet. But I'm not talking about drinking it, I'm talking about topical application. If you drink enough sunscreen you'll probably die. If you put it on your skin it protects you from a sunburn. TOPICAL vs. SYSTEMIC.

  • great information from a hot woman....hhhmmm can it get any better?

  • @TheMissj1981 You are a Dental Hygenist?!? Awesome!

  • @TheMissj1981 Fluoride is a poison at any quantity. No amount is good for anyone. You infer that toothpaste is a "topical application"? I don't know about you, but my teeth are *inside* my mouth. But let's say they were on my forehead and I was brushing my forehead teeth; what's the body's largest organ? Skin. And it absorbs everything that comes into contact with it to varying degrees.

One of the most effective ways to supplement with magnesium is with a topical spray.

No one was talking leaches, however, there have been positive effects found from their use. Unfortunately you haven't picked up on the idea that others aren't as stupid as you think they are. If you want to put poison in yours and your children's mouths go ahead, but please keep to yourself your opinions directed at me, I'm really not interested.

  • There were MANY comments added that were dental questions, and nobody ever answered those, so I attempted to answer the ones that I thought I could help with.

And there were a few things posted that were just so wrong and BAD for your teeth I felt like it would be good to show a second opinion.

Take it or leave it....flame me....fine....MY TEETH won't suffer for it....

  • @illyounotme

that's fine if you think I'm a troll. I know I'm not. I've been following patriot nurse for a long time and watched all her videos. I've never posted a comment before because I never thought I had any special knowledge to add to the discussion. This time I do. You don't have to agree with it or like it. I never criticized Patriot Nurse or her video. I pretty much agree with everything she said.

  • @Dancerpro1 go ahead and brush your teeth with a stick.

won't bother me. I don't think it is right though to recommend it to others with baseless claims such as "teeth need to be stressed by biting on tough things...."

so when I see something I disagree with, I reply that I disagree and why.

Ancsestors used leaches for blood letting as well...doesn't mean that if TSHTF we should go back to leaches...

  • @primerib01 OK- I see what you mean. Sure it's not rocket science. It takes some training to do it efficiently and comfortably; but average people could figure out how to scrape off the tartar of their own teeth (the ones they could reach at least).

Most people have no interest in getting into their own mouths, let alone the mouths of somebody else. That is why dentistry is expensive. not because it's rocket science.

  • @TheMissj1981 Portion Control of Hygenic method, like the skills that a hygenist has.

It's no big deal to use scrappers, picks, chisels and rotary polishers, and any normal clod can master the tools and methods. It's not special knowledge, but the dentist treats it as if it is unattainable for joe sixpack. I use these same tools to clean fine jewelry and clock parts - it's no big deal. between teeth and the gum line is the battleground in the mouth.
