Anyways you can still call yourselves Philistines, but do know that makes you Greeks, not Arabs and not Canaanites. The original Canaanite people were Phoenicians to the North. Other people identified as Canaanites were identified out of association like all Europeans were called Franks, even though most Europeans were not Franks (such as Italians, Englishmen, Spanish, and Slavs).

So they were associated with the Phoenicians, even though the Moabites (Israeli Canaanites) were not Phoenicians.

But Palestine which originates from Pleshtim, does not mean Philistine. It is just synonymous with the Greek word Barbaros (Barbarian).

Philistine is of Greek Origin and means Phil of Hystia. Phil of course being a Greek word. and Hystia being a Greek Goddess. These were people from Greece who worshiped Hystia.

They even battle in the Phalax style Greece was known for when they fought the Israelites.

So the original Philistines were of European Origin. What are you to argue about now?

Also Palestine does not originate from Philistines. Palestine is a Roman/Latin name. Not a Hebrew or Arab one, not originally anyways. Palestine is what the Romans called the land as they were called Pl'shtim by the Jews. By the way that means "invaders." It is true Philistines were called the same by jews.

If the Israelis had called their country Palestine instead of Israel, what would your people call themselves, assuming you were Palestinian. Would you name your land the same. Would there be "the State of Palestine" and the "Arab state of Palestine?"

Or would the people who called themselves Palestinians of today would have called themselves Israelis. And it would have been the Zionist State of Palestine and the Arab State of Israel?

Would the Zionists be Palestinians and Arabs be Israelis?

Now it is funny though, because during this time Palestine was regarded as a Zionist invention and the only people who called themselves Palestinians and held Palestinian citizenship were the Jews that later became Israelis.

Not until the 1980's and starting from the 1960's did the Arabs started to identify themselves as Palestinians. And this largely came from formally being part of Egypt and Jordan from 1948 to 1967 and protesting against Israel acquisition after 1967, never prior to then.
