So I wasn't too happy with 'Dare To Live' (which, notably, is not on here anymore for those reasons), and I've been meaning to do a vid to The Thing with this song for a LONG TIME. I wanted to at least see if Dare to Live could be made to work in spite of blatant flaws before I did this one, however-- largely because it's hard to go wrong with this track + the footage.
In the end, I'm WAY happier with this one, and the tone/atmosphere of the track fits a little too well. Considering it opens with a sample from another Carpenter film, besides... yeah, it was a little too easy to put two and two together.

Man, you totally nailed the editing on this. It's so good that at this point neither the song or the video can stand apart from one another in my mind going forward. Outstanding.

This would be great on the Thing Prequel Soundtrack, just as long as it's not being played by someone in the film, since it takes place in '82. XS

The samples in the beginning of the song, coincidently, are from another Carpenter film, In The Mouth Of Madness.

The Thing has to be one of my favorite horror movies of all time.
Confusion and speculation are fantastic scare elements. That combined with being isolated in the cold with only a handful of others is just great horror material.
