Why are people even arguing about this... its just a clip about cultural practices... no a promotion... evangelism is a foreign concept as far as Taoism is concern.

The Shen Da practices isn't even orthodoxy among religious branch of Taoism.

One should never compare eastern religion to Abrahamic... for 1 thing... eastern religion tend to keep to themselves... It is usually very private... and usually very secular... (that is why most eastern religions co-exist easily)

@PartialTransparency Because even the vast majority of Christians have given up on using a militaristic approach to converting people. We gave that shit up a LONG time ago when we realised it was our leaders' idea of a good time, not commandments from God. But Muslims? Well, they would like to see Sharia Law in every country. What does that tell you? It tells me they're messed up.

So I hope we someday join forces to oppose violent religious dogmatism, especially Islam. ^^

@PartialTransparency Because I actually like a lot of things about other beliefs. Especially Taoism, the kind that's mixed with Chinese folk religion and stuff. There's a temple for it a few suburbs from where I live, which I used to visit a lot, and I really liked it and actually felt more relaxed and less stressed out than I used to feel in church as a kid. The people there are nice and they don't pressure you to think like them.

I do hate Islam though. It's the one exception to me. Why?

@melvinbrand I'm Christian, but I have no real interest in converting ANY of you. In fact I find the mere thought of it quite depressing. My religion commands me to share its core message with others and let them decide for themselves if they want to follow it, but it does NOT command me to force anyone to do anything and it does not allow me to punish anyone for not believing the same things as me. But even sharing it is hard because I don't want to be a nuisance or upset any of you. Why?

Buddhism prohibits this kind of practice. This does not help in mind purification or seeking the inner peace. This practice is one of the demonic state that stated in Shurangama Sutra in Buddhism.

Very pitiful that they have not change to learn the orthodox Buddhism and turn into the right path.
