This is attempt 1 at hair binding for me. I'd see others do it and I wanted to see how my hair would end up after. Normally it looks 3 inches (i just hold a ruler up to my head) after banding it looked 4 inches. So some stretching was achieved. :) Hope it's useful tooya

  • i thought u were about to choke urself wen i realized thts how u but ur head thingie on lol

  • @CeCeTheDiva4511 Lol!!! Yea, it looks a little weird, but it's the easiest fastest way to get it on :)

  • When I was younger I used to do this to my hair for fun - just to be silly. I used to like the effect it would give to my hair, the waves and such. Never would have imagined that this was a technique to stretch out my tightly coiled roots. But it makes sense. =]

  • @Kiss0My0Curls yea, I think a lot of people did, then forgot about it when they began relaxing (pointing at myself) and got back in touch with it when we stopped, because it works and its fun and funny looking, lol. It sure is a technique and one that works :)

  • I would love to know the name of this song PLEASE!

  • @anglosaxonqueen I'm soo sorry! I just did an audio swap and it's been so long ago I don't even remember which genre I chose, I'm sorry :(

  • @idez36 I try and stretch it out if it does that. I also move it further back if it hurts, and or switch to the other flatter wider headbands or only put it on once instead of doubling it. You can also stretch the hair out so you can put it further back. If you put it further back and it's still too tight after stretching the band and your hair, you might have to just wait until your hair gets longer. Or instead of those use the plastic headbands that only flatten the front they shouldn't hurt

  • I don't know if I just have a big head but when I try to put a band on my hair by doubling the band it gives me crazy migraines until I take it out. Any suggestions?

  • You're so welcome mekazonia! It's used mainly to stretch out the hair so you can show length when doing dry twists or to make a bigger fro like I did in this video. It can also help with styling if you have very coily hair for a smoother look. I haven't used it as a protective style, I think people would laugh if I went out the house like that, lol

  • thanks for the video. I never really heard of banding. It lengthens our natural hair, or can it be used as a protective style. Please help me understand what this method is used for. Thanks in advance
