180 Central American cichlid tank with a few south americans mixed in and one Polleni. The large cutteri is banged up from his stay with a female festae. He moved back to this tank a battle hardened solider. He's kicking the crap out of the other cutteri now.

  • what kind of wood is that?

  • @Johnzith1212 the center piece is a stump a friend found. I just hosed it down and put it in the tank. Usually I'll soak for a week in clean water, but I didn't have anything large enough to hold it. The long twisty pieces are large grapevine for bird cages. The other large peices are branches from oak trees in my backyard.

  • hi there

i like your cichlid tank, and i would like to ask about the woods in the tank.

how it need to threat the woods before i can add in the tank ?

or how to prepare it ?

i wait for your help and answer.

    big thank you

  • @vituslori Usually I'll soak for a week in clean water too remove any lose dirt and as much of the tanins as possble. I'll change the water everyday or every other day depending on how dirty it is. If I soak the wood in a bathtub I'll use hot water; if I do it in a tub outside I'll use cold water. I've had good results both ways. My theroy is, any bugs that lived in the dry wood would drown when submerged. That may be wrong, but so far I haven't have any problems.the stump I just hosed it down
