Hendrix was and is the best we will ever get from God when it comes not only as guitarist, but playing a musical instrument. Flawless in every sense. He is Motzart to guitar, pushing guitar to new levels. I cannot imagine what Rock or any music for that matter would be like without Jimi. I guess God needed him more than us...

Jimi was the best performer no doubt but how many memorable songs or guitar solos he got ? here and there you see a lot of people doing tricks or playing fast solos (just search youtube for it) but how many times you see someone coming up with lovely guitar songs and solos like the ones in HOW SHOT THE SHERIFF, LAYLA , wonderful TONIGHT ,... oh and my favourite White Room the solo is so narrative its like listening to poems, you can memories them (now try that with jimi's solos)

can i just say im tired of people describing other humans beings as black, white, asian whatever, there absolutely no need whatsoever to define someone by the colour of their skin any longer, the world is too diverse to even bother any more.

Eric talks about Jimi. They are both self taught guitarists. They are both iconic. Their styles differed, but here you can sense the great admiration Eric had for Jimi, and I am certain Jimi felt the same way about Eric. If you watch Chaz Chandlers youtube discussions you will note that Jimi asked Chaz before coming to the UK whether Fender amps were available, and whether he would have the chance to meet Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. Both were in awe of Jimi....but Jimi was in awe of them too.

@jadeatha I remember that - was some guy with a broom splashing different colours of paint on a wall to "Can you see me?" and at the end was an awesome pic of Jimi

wasn't there an artist at the very beginning of this show, doing some wall-art where he did this picture which looked like total garbage until suddenly it revealed itself to be hendrix. it was amazing. i thought it was at the very start, but don't see it here? do you know where it is? perhaps at the end?

NICE upload. great sound. you should listen to some of the other video's. your video set is the best one. you would get more views if people across the pond knew wtf the South bank show is. I was looking for this shit under BBC for months.

is anyone else completely amazed at the quality of some of the stock footage from this late 80's documentary?
I've seen recent documentaries where the Lulu footage, for example, is just in shambles. Even the picture quality of the interviews looks better than most stuff being made at the time.
Some of the master footage must've been lost by now or something. Amazing to see these little clips in almost HD though! thanks so much!!

Your welcome, this particular VHS tape didn't deteriorate unlike some others I have.
