  • I make "planned" left-overs for the freezer that can then be pulled out quickly and micro-waved. I make a pot of soup once a week and plan meals around that, adding salad, homemade bread, etc. I stretch my meats, if I roast a chicken, we have that the first night. Then turn the left over chicken into a casserole, tacos, etc. When the carcass is picked clean, I cook it down with broth and add veggies, noodles or rice for terrific soup. Chili one night, becomes burritos the next.

  • Something I like to do is when I cook a meal I double it, then freeze half. Like lasagna, tamale pie, soup, spaghetti sauces, stews...So rather than purchase ready made food that are full preservatives and low on nutrients I will have a home made prepared meal.

I know it takes some time to do this but enlist the kids to help and it becomes fun and they will enjoy cooking for their family as adults. Not to mention teen at home who cooks would help you out also.

  • @blueeggsitter nice, and definitely worth a thumbs up. lots of these videos are about food storage or not eating meat. an even more prime problem is WASTING it in the first place. I have seen people throw so much in the bin simply because they can't be bothered to cook it, but bought. and that adds up, in many ways (e.g. the producers will be prone to bulk methods over quality; chickens etc). chicken gets sliced for dinner. picked for sandwiches / soup and the bones can simmer for stock

  • lol, the baby is such a cute background

  • You are awesome. Thank you for all the tips.

  • To help cut down my time in the kitchen. When I buy onions, bell peppers and such, I go ahead and chop them up and put them in the freezer for later use.

    Great video!
