Sky Warriors: The F22 Raptor

The F/A-22 Raptor is the most capable multi-role combat aircraft in production today. It incorporates an angular design, radar absorbent materials, the ability to "supercruise", or cruise at supersonic speeds without using an after
burner, extanding its range and reducing its heat signature, a fully integrated avionic suite, and high supersonic agility throught the use of thrust vectoring nozzles on its engine exhaust. The aircraft's primary mission is air superiority, for which it can carry up to eight air-to-air missiles internally, since no weapons are carried externally on the Raptor to maintain its stealthiness. The U.S. Air Force expects to fully replace its Eagles with Raptors by 2010.

It's an awesome plane, but we don't need so many. They're too expensive. It's better to use that money to help us get out of the recession, or provide health care, education, etc...

The closest thing I've been to this plane is through a scaled down replica... My my, she's a beauty! Still looking forward to have a trip to the west coast and be able to see these birds fly for real! Someday!

@Historystartsnow the constitution says that the government should "PROVIDE for the common defense," but only "PROMOTE the general welfare." nowhere does it say that the government should be providing welfare such as health care... that's the job of the people to look out for themselves. the government should only provide an environment in which americans are able to get jobs which pay enough to provide themselves with health care. all of that will be for naught if we get invaded.

F22 is a nice plane with good fighting capabality, but I don't really see why the US would invest into "stealth" technology that only reduce the visibilty of the aircraft. I mean.. whats the point in spending billions on make something that is still quite easy to spot with powerfull radar...

Plus, the way I see things, fighter planes will become more and more useless.

Soon wars will be fought with short, medium and long range missile, ground troops & UAV

Not to hate but multi role my ass. It's meant to be an air superiority fighter. I believe the only weapon system it can carry bar air to air missiles is 1 JDAM.
