The F/A-22 Raptor is the most capable multi-role combat aircraft in production today. It incorporates an angular design, radar absorbent materials, the ability to "supercruise", or cruise at supersonic speeds without using an after burner, extanding its range and reducing its heat signature, a fully integrated avionic suite, and high supersonic agility throught the use of thrust vectoring nozzles on its engine exhaust. The aircraft's primary mission is air superiority, for which it can carry up to eight air-to-air missiles internally, since no weapons are carried externally on the Raptor to maintain its stealthiness. The U.S. Air Force expects to fully replace its Eagles with Raptors by 2010.

It's an awesome plane, but we don't need so many. They're too expensive. It's better to use that money to help us get out of the recession, or provide health care, education, etc...
We could get out of the recession if the government would learn that they can't just print money whenever they damn well please.
They think that the money will keep its value even though we print more than what we can support. All thanks to fucking Nixon, our money system doesn't depend on gold. Instead, we depend on the government to tell us how much it's worth, even though that's not how it should be done.
@mankyman6 I too would like to have more Raptors but the current administration is doing things a bit smarter than in the recent past. The president has actually increased military spending by about 4% and that money is used for more effective weapons for the present and in the future! more drones and littoral class ships among other things. Also, there will be full pay for soldiers and full medical care when they get out!
Saw this at the Tattoo at the airforce museum in dayton ohio in 07, then again at the air show a month or so later, and then it was at the 08' vectren air show held there as well, amazing to watch this thing fly, even at something as dull a show.
