Hear the fans kick in? when he shuts the hood that's what the intake sucks in, hot radiator heat mixed with coolant vapors from the expansion tank, what you don't want. Why the factory intake took outside air via via front grill. Renders it useless as far as any HP gains. Looks and sounds cool, thats about it.

random question.... but did you lose HP by putting the intake the other way? im just guessing since im thinking of air flow and how its forced in the front and pushed into the intake. but im not sure since im not really a person who knows alot about cars.

buy a regular cotton filter on these smaller engines the foam filter kills it. i had a HKS filter on mine and i had so much lag plus that heat shield gets heat soaked along with the aluminum pipe should paint the pipe with high heat resistant paint or wrap it with heat wrap just an idea
