It's not really Kamal's house. Kamal Mouzawak and his lover, Rabih Kayrouz, are sort of leasing the home rent free from the owners in exchange for all the renovations they are making and have made to the house. (Search for an article called "Renovating for Rent, a Lebanese Retreat", on the New York Times webpage).

@phatcrayonz Don't believe the hype. The Lebanese have been killing each other for over a hundred years based on religion. The people here are a small minority, unfortunately.

@PhiloAmericana They don't represent the whole country...it's like any other country, there is good and bad.

The same could be said about parts of America, as it is abundantly clear fundamentalists reign supreme in certain parts. The tolerant parts of any region are invariably the best.

and how dare the Syrian dish be recognized as Lebanese!
This is the part of the Middle East I could very much enjoy. The people who Tony visits are not fundamentalist at all. They're kind, tolerant, and good-natured. I have alot of respect for that.

This is what paradise is. All religions coming together in peace over drink and food. Amazing. I want to go here!
