INOCENTE, an intensely personal coming-of-age documentary about a vibrant Latina teenage artist from a dauntingly tough background in San Diego who refuses to allow her struggles with poverty and homelessness to get in the way of her extraordinary talent, will premiere on MTV on August 17, 2012.
The film chronicles Inocente, an irresistibly likeable young woman who has overcome poverty and homelessness and won widespread recognition for her whimsical, colorful artworks. Color, as she likes to say, is her revolution.
The film was directed by Academy-Award nominated directors Sean Fine and Andrea Nix Fine of Fine Films. Their Emmy ® award winning film War/Dance was nominated for the 2008 Academy Award for Best Documentary.

Young artist, full of life, full of new world, hungry for success and a great personality, and the immigration system in the US is shameful, can't wait for a immigration reform to the system in the US ASAP and give deserving people like Inocente a chance to feel a normal human being!

Just watched the documentary. So touching. What a beautiful story. After her 1 hr. show, I want to meet this girl and tell her how proud I am of who she is and what she is doing. My heart breaks for her mother. I can only begin to surmise the struggles this woman has gone through. And yet she still stands. I don't know this family; But, I do know there are so many more families with similar stories living in America. Praying.

Inocente is an artist in residence at Redline in Denver, CO this weekend. She is now 18 years old. She is so sweet. Three of her most recent paintings are showing at the gallery through the end of July. Everyone should see this exhibit. It is called NOT EXACTLY and features art by and about the "homeless".

Even though I am a guy, but I cried at the end in the class while watching this. And then I controlled myself because I didn't want anybody to realize that I was crying.

I just watched this documentary at a screening and had questions and answers with her in person! She is really nice and what she is doing with her life after the documentary is so awesome! She said in the documentary that a dream of hers was to do an art show in New York, and this december she is doing one in New York City. Such an awesome story.
