  • This is the best execution of one of the best pieces of music I have ever hear! Thank you!

  • @BullshiterBader ...You're not 'B.S.-ing' me, are ya? (kidding) ----You're welcome! : )

  • I'm no expert to offer any analysis of this music, nor would I wish to be, my immediate thoughts hearing this are; that once in a while I come across a piece of music that is just pure genius, in that there lies the ability to caress and soften the spirit and soul, to surface an inner warmth and emotion which makes us truly unique, and this is a fine example of such beautiful music. I never cease to be amazed at the stark contrast, of the worst and the best humankind has to offer.

  • @SBC0207 ...Well said.

  • @vitellia ~ Oh dear!--Yes, it may be true you are not a harpsichordist, and I would bet Ms. Hewitt isn't either. If you'll note, Ms. Hewitt plays the piano. As did Mr. Glenn Gould. (Please don't have a critical word against THAT genius at the keyboard also!---Or do you?)

Would you also agree that Bach's works are, (as you put it) "Butchered" by Mr.Glenn Gould as well? This being because of your self appointed 'purist' attitude?

(I may sound in disagreement with you but I welcome comments!)

  • For yet another version of this intrigueing piece, search at allmusic dot com for tuba and romp and find ... the 4-tuba-version of some of the world's greatest tuba-players!

(That's how I got to know it.)

  • @bachmaninoff ~ Your comment proves that old saying, "to each his own."

...bachmaninoff, we all have our own personal favorites, tastes and desires in music...Your thoughts, opinions and constructive comments are welcome here.---Thanks!

I believe that Gould was a pianistic genius, though I do not care for his interpretations. As for pianistic interpretations of Bach, I would prefer Andras Schiff of Edwin Fischer.
