Why did you go around him for? Why not just stay behind in the traffic que?

@CycleMan2200 Because there was an open lane to go around him and I didn't dare filter past on the right with no where to go expect for into the curb. Filtering is perfectly legal here and I take advantage of that certain areas.

@weshigh I still don't understand why you didn't stay behind him though. I wouldn't pass someone that aggressive. I would of just let it be since he only beeped at you anyways. I try not to confront driver's unless they try to hit you or pass too closely.

Well handled sir. I try not to enter into discussions, it's rarely enlightening for either party. He didn't exactly get very far after that confrontation, did he? You are right to stay away from the doors. The worst event here though was the pass by the Camry Solara at 0.06 -- what were they thinking?

@weshigh Exactly what happened here in Ottawa Canada. Early morning when someone was commuting last fall, someone opened their door without looking, she was thrown to the ground in rush hour traffic and ran the fuck over! She died. I always remain 4 or 5 feet from doors for that exact reason in the middle of the lane. Vehicles can wait to pass.

You caught up to this guy anyways so it was completely pointless to pass.

@weshigh I never said anything about you going after him. All I said was that staying behind him, nothing would of ever happened(and would of been the best choice), like you talking to the guy. It looks like he tried to cut you off though as you went around him, so maybe he wanted to start something with you. I don't know since I was not there, but thats what it looks like.

@Pentdad Or, people in motor vehicles can do the math and recognize that safely overtaking a cyclist who is positioning him/herself in the middle of their lane, adds next to no time to their trip. Why bother giving it a second thought? How much time, energy and stress did the driver of the SUV put into having a go at this cylist, only to be stopped at the next red light with everyone else? Cyclists are legitimate road users and may legitimately use an entire lane.
