My church uses a Primera BravoPro CD printer. It's a very nice unit but using the cartridges is inefficient, costly and inconvenient. Sometime you run out of one color but have plenty of the other colors and therefore must start with a new one just to get the new color. Because of this, I'm trying to learn to refill the cartridges in order to maximize use and save money.
When refilling one of these ink cartridges, I ran into some problems that made me want to know what is inside. So I cut one open to see. By seeing what's inside I can use the refill kit better.
I think I pushed the needle in too far and either damaged the mechanism at the bottom of the ink container, or by going too far down I caused the ink to pool in the bottom versus stay in the sponge. I think I'll have better success now.
The reason I was motivated to refill is because a new cartridge runs about $50 and takes a week to get by mail order (not sold locally). The refill kit costs about $25 and is sold locally, plus will provide around 3-5 refills.
