In 1982, this song was played everywhere. From rock stations to r&b stations to pop and discos, it was there. It was also number one on Billboard's Hot100. Steve Miller was able to create something that could please everyone, when the majority of musicians couldn't even make a hit song. However, it was soo huge that Steve Miller probably lost his "rock fans" in the process. Steve Miller was part of CLASSIC ROCK music, and making a song like "Abracadabra" to please pop/new wave and disco fans turned off Steve's core fans. I think this song is Steve Miller's last hit.
