----------------------------------------------------------------
Here I made the upgraded version of GoPro tutorial/review since the last GoPro mounting tutorial. I'll be talking about the tail boom stretch in order to install 350mm size main blades which will give extra stability for the HD videography.
I've upgraded the stock Align ESC to Castle ICE50 with governor mode (2800rpm set). If the rpm is too low, it will give you wobbly video. so it's important that at least you have some decent rpm.
I've got rid of flybar and installed Helicommand Rigid for flybarless and auto-hover function (I found it's very useful for aerial videography) and got MKS digital servos for max function.
I've installed video transmitter (powered by the main 3s battery using balance plug) for FPV.
Here's my setup:
- TREX 450 sport body with metal microheli bottom plate modified hole for GoPro mounting
- stretched boom (using Outrage G5 boom, pushrod, belt)
- 61mm KBDD tail blades
- 350mm FLB main blades
- MKS DS95 servos for cyclics
- Futaba S9257 servo for rudder
- Helicommand Rigid
- Castle ICE50 (governor set on 2800rpm)
- Align GP780 gyro (I'm using separate gyro, not helicommand gyro)
- AR8000 + sat RX
- DX8 TX
- GoPro HD2 cam
I've done few videos taken from back of my garden but I'm going to make some proper video soon and update in here for you guys because my garden is rubbish. You can still see some Onboard flight videos from my previous setting, but my new setting gives much much better quality video even in 1080p mode with no jello at all.
If you guys have any question please ask me. I'll answer as best as I can.
Thanks guys and happy flying! :)
@daaacc I'm using Spektrum DX8 tx and in UK, the output is quite low compared to other countries. With video tx on, I get only about 100m distance without losing connection when I do ground range check. So I tend to do relatively short distance FPV with this setting.
I'm currently working on a page for anyone is interested in FPV and the settings (the aerial videography station link on the description for this clip).
I'll keep things posted through the page :)

Hi, Could you tell me about your video transmitter and its range? Where can I learn more about how to make a similar set up ?

@usakicksass Sorry it's not you, it's my fault. I forgot to change the casing when I was making this video, and ended up using sound-proof casing. You might want to increase the volume to hear it bit better. If you have anything to ask, please don't hesitate ;)

Love your videos. Keep it up.
Not sure if it is my failing hearing with old age or my laptop but I had a hard time hearing some of your discussion. I was able to make it out with careful attention.
