DON'T FORGET TO WATCH PART 2!!
Meet this 95-year-old native New Yorker who just published her 19th book and has a photo exhibit on display at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in lower Manhattan. Hear the remarkable story of how in 1944 she escorted, to the United States, nearly a thousand refugees escaping the horror of the Holocaust, and the personal connection to 1010 WINS Anchor Susan Richard, whose family was among those saved.

  • Ruth Gruber is such an inspiration! I recently got to meet her after the screening of the documentary about her life, 'Ahead of Time". She stayed afterwards and met with each person who waited. Her presence is one of deep compassion, understanding, and intelligence. I recommend everyone see that movie and meet her, if they have the chance. Memorable: "I had two tools. I had words and images. And I realized everyone of us had tools. We have to find those tools and use them to fight injustice"

  • Here it is, July 2010 and she's still alive at 98! Harold Ickes was impressed with her right fron the start. Thanks for posting this video.

  • Ruth Gruber was on my show a few years ago too. (also available on YouTube) She is truly a remarkable woman! You did a nice job with her! -Rabbi Doug

  • This turned out great! A beautiful, uplifting and inspiring story. I hope you'll do more of these, Susan.
