About us

Founded in March 2007, The Urban Jam is a non-profit Basket-ball Tournament. The foundation of the tournament was brought about by Yannick Tchoum who is a health conscious social advocate for the sport of basketball in Canada.
Our philosophy is invested in the support and development of Canadian basketball on a national level and is focused on youth culture and it's relationship with sport. Use the basketball to fight against sedentarity and school's drop out.

Mission statement

Our primary objective is the proper branding of our tournament. Excellence is the tag line to which many viewers of press and promotional material will undoubtedly notice. Our selection process will determine the quality of the game from a viewers stand point, which will attract a unique mix of attendees. Our intent is to reach 50,000 people online and have an onsite attendance of 10,000 viewers over a two-day period.

Urban Jam will aim to become a flagship Canadian basketball tournament over its five year growth and action plan. Our tournament will bring together characteristics of the urban community, including athletes, dancers, artists and sneaker heads. The culture's biggest fans will be present to portray their passion: a lifestyle. It's after party will become the biggest sneaker party ever held in Canada.


Urban Jam

We titled our event Urban Jam to provide a link between the urban community and basketball, with the aspiration of bringing about creative and motivational change to the urban youth of Montreal Canada. Urban Jam is designed as a metropolitan Montreal sporting event, which carries strong ties with the entertainment and creative community.
Our venue is central within the Montreal city and highly accessible by both the walking, driving and public transit viewers of our showing.
Urban Jam will be a two day event that shall grow to a three day weekend festivity.
Our event will retain its image and game play of excellence through the use of pre-selection games and meetings 1 month prior to our show date
