STT Road Atlanta June 23 2008
My first track day in "I" group, and my first time at Road Atlanta. We are running the
new config, which the old config looks like more fun, and heard the new config ads 2-3
seconds to your times. My best for the day on a crippled bike was a 1:49. First
session I somehow blew out my header collector for the front and rear headers (where
they combine), leading to a total lack of a bottom/mid range power, my bike would not
make power unless over 7000, which is why I am always shifting, if I was around 5 or 6,
going uphill, I would sometimes lose speed, or just maintain, had to downshift to get
moving. Then the front header broke, ending my day.

1st Session
Learning the track, was totally new to me.
2nd Session
Picking up the pace, starting to learn the track, bike is getting worse though.
3rd Session
Kept up with my friend on his GSXR1000, he passed me half way through the session, but
I never let him get away, made up for his speed by good braking and faster corner
speeds, bike really started running hot on me this session, saw 240 degrees.
4th Session
Had to cut it short, bike hit 255 degrees, running too lean and too much exhaust going
through the RC's side radiators. Also need to reverse polarity on the fans to fix the
weird RC reverse fans that fight normal air flow cooling when going fast.
5th Session
Bike started to overheat again, slowed down, let it cool, then finished the session.
Last lap my front header broke in half on the front straight, called it a day.
I have ordered all new headers/mid pipes (OEM) and am NOT going to heat wrap them.
Next trackday will be with NESBA at Barber in October.
