DIC video of a virus/polymer suspension that contains numerous self-assembled colloidal membranes. These membranes eventually coalesce to form large monolayers that can be up to hundreds of microns in diameter. During the movie we switch between DIC imaging, which reveals continuum fluctuations of the membranes, and fluorescence imaging, which uncovers molecular dynamics of fluorescently labeled rods that are present at low-volume fraction.
