@oatstao the nicoloas cage version is not as terrible as everybody says --- but it is not even compareable to the original which is one of the best movies i ever saw - just watch it and judge by yourself
so what does everyone think of the Nicolas Cage version.
I dread the thought of even watching it so I won't. How can you top
this movie?? REallY? Cage paid quadrillions, and this cast of the original paid peanuts yet pull of a dreamy professionally theattrics of the occult.
thanks for posting the entire segment. Was glad to also find the uncut version on Demonoid hope to find the real DVD with these extras some day... Peace
@chopin65 I dont know. For me there is not the intense type of atmostphere of the Exorcist but the end was unexpectedly stomach churning because Howie was so believable and you completely revolt at this happening to him. To be honest I cant really watch the Exorcist so I would probably have to say that is the one I find scarier!
@EloiseDecember How would you rate it as a horror classic? There we run into a more difficult matter. I think of it as being in the top 50 horror films of all time. But it is not my number one. That place belongs to The Exorcist.
@chopin65 I agree. To me the ending was the most frightening of any horror film and this in my opinion was due very largely to the depth of the character Edward Woodward played and his tremendous acting. You just cant believe this is happening to him. Someone you think is going to save the day becomes a sacrifice. It is like everything turned on its head. I found it very unsettling.
I put this in a list of the top 25 films of the seventies and people think I am crazy. But I think it is original and in a category of its own. The first time I saw it I couldn't get to sleep. When they drag him up into the Wicker Man I felt like I was being dragged up into to be sacrificed.
The Nicolas Cage version is so terrible it should never had been made
