Metrolink Overload!

Kinda ironic coming from you... At least I have to leave my basement in order to enjoy my hobby... Insulting people on YouTube is the mark of a fat, unhappy basement dweller with too much time on their hands (thus no life of their own).
I have a wonderful family, beautiful home in a great neighborhood, an excellent career, with time enough to enjoy my hobby. Just because you don't share the same interest doesn't mean you have to insult me.

Great video! Lots of nice sounding horns. I really liked the second trains horn(first metrolink train after the amtrak)...I listened to it several times....almost sounds like a K5LA...is it? Or is it just a healthy sounding P2?

Why was that one Metrolink pulling ex Ace cars?
is # 879 an MP36?
idiotman76 1 year ago
@idiotman76 No, the first MP36 is the 888. 879 is an F59PHI. The only MP36 in the video was the 893. At the time it was the first (and only) MP36 working in revenue service, and incidentally was the primary reason I'd decided to camp out and film the rush hour that day. I managed to catch it three times (once it was shoving, so I didn't care, then it came leading back north, so I followed it upline and caught it leading a second time, the MP36 is leading in the last two clips of the video.)

what happens if the detector says you have a defect?
celica825 1 year ago
@celica825 It means the train is derailed or there is another problem. Basically, if you here "DEFECT REPEAT DEFECT!" they hit the penalty brake
ConAmMD80fan 1 year ago
@ConAmMD80fan A defect message would go something like;
"Metrolink Detector Milepost seven point eight track number two; stop your train, stop your train; dragging equipment, north rail, axle one two. Repeat; Metrolink Detector Milepost seven point eight track number two; stop your train stop your train; dragging equipment, north rail, axle one two." (Then it would repeat that whole message again about a minute later).

@celica825 You get out and inspect the train, if you can't find the indicated defect you can continue on, if you find a defect then you either have to fix it if possible, or you operate the train in accordance with special handling restrictions (usually a slow order, generally 30 MPH) to a siding or yard where you can remove the defective car from the train.
