It's the same argument whether it's state or feds. My state is raising taxes right now and people are throwing a shit storm, but you know what? We voted for all the projects that we ourselves petitioned to put on the ballot and now we have to pay for them.
I can't imagine anti-tax people ever balancing a check book. You can only cut down on so much, and none of it matters if you don't have a job.
Some of the things you listed are NOT federal government problems. They are things that we could do for ourselves under state and local laws - that is if the federal government would stop spending our hard earned tax dollars friviously.
You know what else is funny? The poster pointed out public financing of campaigns. McCain took public financing dollars and Obama didn't, so maybe this guy needs to investigate before he opens his camera lens. Alas, it is only youtube. And having only lost by a few hundred votes, Dems will take El Dorado County back as soon as McDick-toc starts fucking it up.
No more taxes, and yet we want more protection, more prisons, more police, more protection for businesses, more services, better roads, a strong military, less poor people, less mentally ill, better education, ad infinitum.
We should be at a point where it doesn't matter if we are Democrats or Republicans - big government (tax and spend) doesn't work regardless of party affliation. No more taxes, Washington!
That is the issue to me. It is not that we oppose building americ, we oppose how it is being managed. WHy does the gov use so much money to do anything?
Ah, you've convinced the conservatives not to vote for Charlie Brown, not that they were going to anyway. Nice cut and paste job, though.
Alas, we liberals and independence are looking for more than a carpet-bagging conservative who doesn't even know the needs of his prospective constituents.
The reason you couldn't do one of Tom's supporters is because there were none there. We Charlie supporters were there to show our support for Charlie. FYI most of the supporters I have called for Charlie are Republicans, there just weren't any at that event. The way Mr. Barton chose to cut and paste things is dispicable and lacks any aspect of journalism, just biased garbage! Go Charlie brown! Down with McClintock! If he can't vote for himself in this race, why should we?
So you don't mind if states raise taxes?
