Amtrak 11 and Caltrain 230 race at College Park 2/15/08

This is a rare sight; a three train race occurs between Caltrain 230 (with JPBX F40PH-2C 922) and Amtrak #11 (southbound Coast Starlight with P42DC's 112 and 118). The third train on the far right was moving in the same direction as the other two, but it was switching cars in the UP San Jose Yard.

Note the construction crew and the guy with the whistlepost. They were digging a whole between the 2 UP tracks. The tractor on the property in the back has nothing to do with the trackwork.

This Amtrak Locomotive 118 (second train, second prime mover) was involved in a fatal tractor-trailer collision at 8:30 AM this morning (Wednesday, December 12, 2011) on the Lakeshore Limited line just west of Buffalo, NY in Dunkirk, NY.
