i socialized my chow when she was a puppy so now at 10months, she is so friendly with strangers that she can be taken by anybody!!!she doesnt even bark at strangers except when she's hungry!!!lol

I always wanted a chow and am thinking of gettin one. So what I understand is socialize them when they're young and treat them like a cat in the respect of personal space and not constantly barrage them with over-affection. Oh and be the alpha.

I trained my Chow Chow to socalize already and taught him simple tricks, can I still train him tricks even though he's 4 years old?

The part about giving then space is quite right too. They don't tolerate being invaded in a rough way. Don't even think about hitting a chow he will strike back and he's bite is very very strong. My chows aren't very confortable with strange people and they take time to make friends with someone. Is important to respect their pace. Loved the video.
Socialize alot....chows are like cats in sensitivity....they startle with loud noises etc....so do some work when they are puppies and you will have a great pet. Do not and I repeat do not be aggressive with your chow. Gentle techniques only
