Can I use any memory manufacturer or does it have to be a specific one, also can I use 800Mhz speed RAM instead of 667Mhz?

Just received two 6715s's and I want to upgrade the RAM - this tutorial was most helpful.

you're right this is the only and best solution, thanks for the advice

ok thx a lott, it was verry helpfull, but just one more quest. what kind of motherboard has this hp model, so i can search for, and ur u 100% sure that the cpu and memory are also dead? in this case i must buy a new cpu and memory,,, fkk..

I tried all the possibilities, I opened and motherboard where I found a lot of parts oxidized, a white powder, I cleaned everything very well with the brush. but no results
ps ... the white powder from the oxidized parts means that the board is dead?
You can any manufacture you like .But if you use both memory slots its advisable to use the memory from the same manufacture other wise you will get some memory errors due to slight variation in performance of the chips. With regards to memory speeds stick to the manufactures spec. Putting faster memory in does not always work.

@twicedj88 from experience have had a few laptops in a similar condition. The cheapest solution would be to buy another laptop and slavage the hard drive and selll the faulty laptop for spares unless you are pretty confident and can get the mother board cheaply then there is no guarantee that it will work so you will pay twice for the same product.

the circuits have shorted out so the board is dead .Screen & hard drive is salvageable .You can get a replacement board but will require a new cpu
and memory.

@twicedj88 take the battery & dvd drive & hdd drive and then power it up on mains. If it get to the boot stage look at the set by pressing F10.If it does not come up your mother board may be shorted out.To remove the key board look under the case where there are symbols that look like keyboard undo the screws.Turn over and look at the key board.between ESC &F1 ,F4&F5 ,F8&F9 ,F12& DELETE KEYS there are latches use finger nails to plull them towards the space bar.The keyboard will then drop out.

@twicedj88 once you have removed the key board have a look at the circuit board if there is any residue of liquid then the mother board is dead.Only salvegeable would be the hard drive. Takes less than a spoon full of water to short out the circiut board. In this instant let it dry out for a few days and try switching it on a gain
